Peace Day Celebration in Glasgow

One of the many events happening worldwide on 21st September 2014 to celebrate the UN International Day for Peace

The Event Programme

Marking the 30th Anniversary of the UN International Peace Day, ‘Peace Day Celebration’ is taking place in Glasgow’s Cineworld on Sunday, 21st September at 12:00.

peacemakers3At the heart of the event is the Scottish premiere of the remarkable documentary ‘Peacemakers’ which features a meeting between two well-known supporters of Peace around the world, actor & filmmaker, Jeremy Gilley, founder of non-profit organisation Peace One Day and Prem Rawat, a well recognised ‘Ambassador of Peace’. Prem Rawat talks with Jeremy Gilley about peace, its importance and understanding how it might be spread. The two men discuss the different approaches they have taken to get out their respective messages of peace out into the world. Watch a preview. Entertainment includes live music from ‘The Glasgow Highlife Band' from Pan African Arts Scotland (PASS). Founded by Gameli Tordzro and launched in 2010 to bring the vibrant highlife mGlasgow Highlife Band1usic from Ghana to Scotland, the band has played in many events including the St Mungo's Festival 2011, and this year's Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh         Ohagan and a performance from renowned Glasgow musician, Frank O’Hagan. Frank has enjoyed a long and successful musical career over 40 years and is one of the stalwarts of the live music scene in Glasgow. He will be playing some of his best known songs that celebrate the human spirit at the Cineworld event.
